The 2018 Olympic Winter Games will be hosted by PyeongChang, South Korea.
The organizing committee of the PyeongChang games revcealed the official emblem designed by Jong-joo Ha.
The XXIII Olympic Winter Games 2018 logo draws on the Korean alphabet, Hangul, and Korea’s traditional humanism, according to a statement.
It’s said to symbolize “a grand gathering of people from all around the world in celebration of Olympic winter sports, which is taking place in the harmonious land of PyeongChang—‘A square where the earth meets the sky, and where athletes excel in snow or on ice’”.
The emblem also taps on five colors—similar to those found on the Olympic flag—that are traditional to Korea: black, blue/green, yellow, red and white are found in clothing, celebrations, martial arts, architecture, art and food in Korea.
